Hello,
I am very interested in my Scottish Heritage, currently researching my Scott family line. I have reached a dead end. I have as far back as Gr Gr Gr Gr Gr Grandfather Joseph Abner Scott m. Elizabeth Spence/Spencer, their son James D. Scott was born 1810 in South Carolina and died prior to 1870. He died in Tallapoosa Co. Ala. and believe to be buried in Stowe family cemetary.
I would like very much to extend this line to it's Scottish beginnings if possible. Please offer any info available. If none available would still like to hear from you.
Thanks,

AMO to all,
Greetings from bonny Southern California, Huntington Beach. As
Commissioner of Clan Scott for California, I attend about six Scot-
tish events a year and am interested in news of Scotts and friends
from around the world.
My grandfather, William Bennett Scott, was born in Galashiels Scot-
land and came to Canada from South Africa. He was a member of the
Transvaal Scottish Rifles. That was about 1908.
He had an older brother, Henry Bennett Scott, who, I believe,
remained in South Africa.
Here in Southern California we have formed our own pipe band, and
hope to build a strong society of Scotts on the west coast.
Yours aye, Andy Scott
Timothy Angus Scott from United States, Florida, Duval (JAcksonville).

A beautiful web page. I'm a retired minister, living in Florida, and something of an anglophile. I was on an approved for stipendary position with the URC a few years back, but nobody wanted me, so I came to a warmer clime. My ancestors, Daniel and William left England, Ireland, or Scotland for the States, some time before 1802 when Daniel acquired land in North Carolina. I look forward to finding the UK links.

Hi Steve
My paternal great grandfather, Thomas Scott, 1851-1904, died in Banbury and buried in Warwick, was a son of the "Scott's of Greenock, shipbuilders and engineers, 1820-1920."
He was sent to Canada on a shilling passage, because he did not want to join the family business. However, he returned and met his wife Harriet in Chester where my grandmother, Jessie Scott, was born in 1882. They had another daughter Daisy, who died age 7 or 8, in Dumfries probably.
Thomas became the bailiff at Dumfries castle and my grandmother was baptised at York Minster with the children of a family who Thomas and Harriet were in service too.
They moved to Warwick eventually, where Thomas worked as a gardener and died in Banbury (buried in Warwick) and Harriet ran a registry for servants.
I have been trying to obtain a copy of an historical thesis from Institute of History, Uni. of London, (257) "Scott's of Greenock, shipbuilders and engineers, 1820-1920." Johnston F. Robb. (Professor Anthony Slaven.) Glasgow Ph.D. 1993.

I am a Scott by birth and very proud of it. We eo not know much about our Scott history as my grandfather died when my dad was only 2 years old in 1921. They lived in Scranton, in upstate Pennsylvania. My grandfather's name was Edwin L. Scott married to Ann Mary Rosar. They had one child, Anne. Ann Mary died and Edwin then married Elizabeth Rosar Scott, my grandmother. They had eight children, Caroline, Virginia, Edwin Lucas, Leo, Joseph, Elsie, Michael(my dad) and Marie (also known as Mimi),
My grandfathers father and mother were Ziba Scott and Elsie Rudy Scott. They had seven children, Floyd, Daniel, Mary, Evert, Gertrude, Peter and Edwin.
Just knowing that there are so many of us out there makes me proud.
While I go about trying to find out more of my history, I know that I no longer have a common last (maiden) name. I am part of a proud nation of peoples. Thank you, God bless you and contine on as I do in our forever quest to find our family ties.

Hi,
Just a visit to the old clan.
My Grandfather was Robert Scott.
We trace back to the Buccleuch Scots.
My Great Grandfather being Walter Scott. Who looked after the family estates at Dalkeith. Lothian. Which is still owned by the present Duke.
My great Grandfather was called "Wat the Grue". He was a well known figure.
Originaly from Hawick, where my Grandfather was born.
Some of our records are at Bowhill.
It might be of interest to some of the clan folk, that when I am here in Scotland, my nightly walk is at Dalkeith Palace, owned by the Duke.
All My Best Wishes, and if I have any relatives out there, get in touch please.

Professional author homepage Greetings to all my fellow Scotts! I just recently discovered that my mother was adopted, and her last name was originally Scott. Tracing the records back I was stunned to discover that I seem to be a (very) distant relative of Sir Walter Scott. Well, I guess blood will tell because I am also a professional novelist, with over 32 books published to date; Science Fiction, Fantasy, Military/Adventures, and Mysteries.
Now that I know a smidgen of my Scottish ancestory, I am very eager to learn more. Good luck to you all, cousins!

I, as a member of Clann Scott in America, was just informed of this site by our membership secretary, David Scott. I have spent some time looking through the site and find it very interesting. I hope to be able to utilize some of the links you have provided to trace my Scott grandparents further back in the Homeland.
this is a fun place to explore and one I will visit often, so thanks to the cousins who have taken the time and made the effort to make it available to all of us " Boarder" Scotts in the USA.

Most interesting website. Congratulations!
I am a member of the Clan Scott Society U.S.A. and often join other Scotts in the Annual Christmas Walk in Alexandria, Virginia. Alexandria was founded by Scottish merchants. On that December day, I am sure there are more Scottish kilts to be seen around town than in any town in Scotland!!
I am trying to find my immigrant Scott ancestor, who could have come either from Scotland or Northern Ireland. So far, I know that my greatgreatgreatGrandfather Scott was born in Virginia in the 1700s. I have yet to identify him, but my cousin and I are getting closer. Fascinating hobby!

This is a good site, sort of reminds me of Cyndi's List. It is a great place to find links, etc. We visited Scotland in 1996 - Hawick & Ashkirk. The farm we now live on has been in the Scott Family (Marian's family) since 1870, when Adam Scott came here from Burnfoot Farm on the Alewater near Ashkirk, to the northeast of Hawick. We stayed in the Elm hotel and arrived the evening that the town was having their Christmas Parade. There had been a "mega" inch snow the night we were transiting the Atlantic. So when we got to Hawick it was cold. We had a good time and seemed to be the only "Yanks" in Scotland at the time. Cheerio! Jim

also have news from our National Deputy Chieftain Andrew Scott

Hi my name is Lisa,
Very interesting site, seems to be alot of Scotts around, was looking for any information relating to family ties with "Sir Walter Scott" (famous poet), he has been traced right back in my family tree, on my grandmothers side, her last name was "Lucky", somehow Lucky and Scott linked. Anyway genealogy is very interesting. If anyone is doing a family tree on the web about the Scott family dating back or around Sir Walter Scott, please let me know, I'm interested to find out more, or feel free to email me, Thanks

i am a 46 year old female, raised by my grandfather, russell alan scott, in the usa. ohio. his brothers were william, james, and richard. his father, william, came from scotland in the late 1800's. i am not on a geneological search. in fact, i have had no undue interest in my roots until recently. i have been having visions - not dreams -visions. i am an educated woman and as such, quite skeptical of such things. these viions are of an ancient time, i think. before the roman invasions. they are druidic in nature, of that i am sure. and the fact that they take place on what is now scottish soil, i am also sure. i need any info for researching this, thanx! pepper

Dear Mr. Scott
I am always interested in my own Scott heritage, especially in Scotland itself. My father Andrew scott was born and breed in Scotalnd, Angus Dundee. He was a soldier in the famous Blackwatch regiment. He was stationed for some time with this regiment in London and from there spoke to several Australian soldiers who were stationed in London at that time. Just from talking to these Aussie lads who made the land of Oz sound so inviting he than inquired about transfering over to the Australian Army. Arrived in Sydney and the rest is history.
I am from a family of nine children, I am the seventh born in this clan of Scott. I am also a piper, with my own set of Hardie Pipes, but I dont play the pipes as often as I used to, as I am now studying full-time law at Queensland University of Technology. I am also now engaged to be married to a young lassie with a scottish heritage with the surname Watson. We have set a date to be married on 1st May, 2004.
My mother and I visited Scotland back in 1992, found it fascinating and full of a rich pride shown by the inhabitants of this scenic country. I had one heck of a job enticing my dear mother back to Australia, because she fell head over heels in love with the country and your accents.
In closing I would like to keep corresponding with a felow Scott (Scot) to keep in touch with the news from abroad as I feel a close connection to my fathers homeland.
Yours faithfully in Australia,
Ed Scott.
